Oil Head Service day on the South Coast

Anyone else seen the weather forecast. If it's right, then some serious headwinds for those of us coming from the NE! 45-50mph! But a free ride on the way home i guess!
 
Right, I see its going to be windy...but let's hope it doesn't rain...my biking trousers are in for repairs so it'll be waterproofs and warm layers for me! I am riding a roundabout route of 200 miles to get to the hotel at Stony Cross for around 16:30. I'll be going to dinner at the Mayflower. Anyone else in the hotel keen to meet and share a taxi? Say 6:30 in the bar?
 
Just checked the BBC weather. Thankfully they have adjusted yesterday's forecast and show significantly lower wind speeds (25-30mph). I feel a bit better about the ride down now.... previous forecast was 45-50mph which didn't look like fun. I'll have to come down using the M3 and the stretch after Winchester is seriously exposed!

Unfortunately I can't make the evening before but looking forward to meeting all on the Sunday morning! Enjoy the dinner!
 
Looking forward to Sunday and hopefully Steptoe will be fully recovered. You read these forums and the same names keep cropping up again and again and so it will be nice to finally meet. I used to have an S and so my first acquaintance was in Boxertrix.


My apologies now, just discovered I have a puncture on the 1100 and doubt whether I'll have time to get it fixed before Sunday which means I'll probably be relegated to the Honda (I'll park it discreetly!)

I'm staying at the Travelodge at Stoney Cross as well so will see you there.

I sent Jeremy a message earlier but am yet to get a response so hopefully he doesn't object to me doing this but.....

Is there anyone wanting to attend tomorrow's workshop who wasn't able to get a place?

I have a bit of an issue in my own garage which is taking much longer than expected to sort. So much longer that I may have to use tomorrow to continue and thus, frustratingly, have to miss out on the service day.

Rather than take the risk of not turning up and the space being wasted, I'd much prefer to offer it out in case someone else wants to go but currently can't.

If anyone is interested either respond on this thread or PM me directly.
I guess it would be a lot easier to paypal me directly rather than Jeremy, who would then have to refund me etc etc. ..

Got home after a bit of a slog round the M25, then washed my bike before putting it away (jeremy:thumb2)

Just home (stopped by Portsmouth to see a friend). Too dark to clean the bike, but it flippin needs it now!

I really enjoyed the day. Meeting others, chatting about all sorts. Wish I'd come the evening before!

Mikey. Really great to have a straight, down to earth description of all the jobs we covered. You've removed the mystery on several things for me (and others I'm sure). My knowledge of lubricant usage has increased immeasurably

Jeremy, thanks for organising everything, including the gourmet food! Perfect venue!
 
Well I really enjoyed that... kicking around a workshop with an interesting collection of 1100 + 1150 + 1200 specimens, won't mention the honda ( !!! ) and a great bunch of tossers... And Mikey was great - patient, so knowledgable and keen to share, and open to questions. Thank you sir - what a gent, and for stepping up for Neil too.


I'm a home mechanic, have built 2 bikes from the frame up and developed from a diy home bodger in my teens to being quietly confident and comfy with taking on most tasks, and am always open to learn from the masters and today was about confirming some things and learning new, as well as putting forum names to faces as mr codger says, and I'm happy to report all requirements more than met! The food was unexpectedly good too, so a big thanks again for that...



Hopefully there will be some photos put up soon and we can all marvel at the filthy state of Jeremy's bike...!

Great to meet you all, and thanks again to Jeremy for making it happen, and to Mikey for being awesome. Much respect sir.
 
Must add my congrats to Jeremy and Mikey for a great day. Also being able to put some faces to names. Great company, great bikes, great food and the chance to get hands dirty, doesn't get much better than that. Roll on the next one! Nick
