Oil leak, final drive, not seal / bearing

Certainly will be !

I was hoping someone would press out the alloy part, build it up with weld and re-machine it down to a press fit and re-install. What do you think?
Feasible or pie in the sky.

unfortunately made of money I am not.

Maybe but the sort of engineering job you have in mind aint going to be a freeby but any means, stick an ad in the wanted colume and see what happens.

was in rainbow other week, one of the mechanics said, yeah the 1200's seem to be going at around 20 thousand, feck me thought i
i have had two go,
what would i do if i was in foreign country, its not like a chain and sprocket, where any back street mechanic can fix.
good luck folks, its just another reason for me to look elsewhere for a bike.

Mine seems to have stopped leaking at the moment, I suspect the drop in temperatures over here have allowed my drive to run that bit cooler this week.

Keep watching the drive!

Don't wish to be a harbinger of doom but when something stops leaking, one reason may be that what was leaking has all gone. Hope I'm wrong:D

You were wrong. I had to swap the final drive for one from an 1150 in the end. BUT there is a plan to rebuild my 1100 FD using a re-made part but time has not been easy to find until winter starts. I will post details when I can.
