Oil leak

Hi Chaps, today I noticed a misting of oil below the front engine (timing?)cover.
Is this the sort of thing which has one usual answer or could it beone of a number of possible problems?
I haven't removed the cover yet to inspect it but thought it would be worth a ask to see if this is a known problem
