Hi, I've recently developed an oil leak on my 1200GS.

On the left of the engine theres a large (about 40mm dia.) black air breather hose coming out of the top of the engine block.

I'm getting a very small leak from it probably only a couple of drops of oil a day but enough to run down the back of the engine.

It appears to come from the bottom of this breather pipe. It's not the cyclinder head gasket or rocker cover gasket before you ask.

Has anybody any thoughts on what the problem might be?

Cheers, Mike

Over filled with oil and it's going up the breather into the airbox and a little is leaking from where the breather joins the engine????

Oil Leakage

Good thinking, recently topped up the oil, didn't think I'd overfilled. Will it do any damage? Is there any thing I can or should do about it?

Use BMW guidelines in owners manual to check oil level. If you have over filled then perhaps best plan is to drain the oil and re fill to correct level. With regard to damage that is a tricky question and I think I am right in saying this would depend on the amount of over fill. Perhaps this could be clarified by someone more mechanically mined than me.:)
