I've been trying to get a reading on the oil level on my computer pro. I've RMFM and it just says the engine needs to be at operating temperature (whatever that is), side stand retracted and the bike upright and engine running for 10 seconds.

Mine just displays ---
Any advice welcome :)

From memory I think you have to have been riding for a set about of time (10 mins?). It should display when you come to a stop after riding.

Why don't you bend down and have a look at the oil sight glass, instead

Saves all the wear and tear to the starter and battery:D

You ride it to get it up to working temperature then it should display the 'Level Ok' when the bike has been stationary for a few seconds and on level ground

I tried it after riding for 45 minutes the other day, retracted the sidestand and waited 10 seconds, nothing.
JB I did also bend down and check and the oil is fine. I just like gadgets :)

Hi, if you find out why let us know because mine is the same.

Cheers

I never use it - it reads 'Level OK' sometimes, normally when I've been riding for a while and stop (i.e. oil no longer sloshing around). It's not very useful, much better to look at the sight glass.
