Oil Level Reminder

Am I right in thinking the "OILL LV" display on the dash always shows "---" and not an actual reading? If I hold down the button for a bit it then changes to "CHECK" and the oil level icon comes on, but then goes away after turning the engine off and on again. The manual doesn't really give much insight into what it does or how it works.

Under the right conditions, which for the life of me l can’t remember, mine shows OK on the screen.

Up to temperature, and in neutral iircc and it will say ok.

Unless it needs to be checked when it will read 'Check' funnily enough

Ah, I hadn't thought about neutral. I'll give that a go tomorrow!

Dunno. I checked mine this afternoon, along with tyre pressures when the bike was on the main stand in the garage, in preparation for my ride tomorrow. <smug grin>

When checking the oil level in the sight glass, engine cold. Should the bike be upright but not on m/stand, side stand or on main stand?
Can't remember but think my dealer said, upright and not on main stand, level ground.

On centre stand, engine hot. Let oil drain back for 5 mins.
