What holds this in place, and is it likely to fall out under certain conditions?
They normally only fail if you leave the bike ticking over for 20 minutes or more, yes really.but what if the rubber is fubar anyway??
Will it not fail regardless?

Off topic, but dam, that's a fine looking 1150 Timolgra![]()

It's not worth worrying about.
Those who do are the same ones who have lockable oil filler caps because they heard a story from a bloke whose brother's dentist had a paper boy whose dad had his filler cap stolen
Get on with your life....have dirty sex, drink too much for your doctor's liking, ride too fast and eat fatty lamb.........never forget that a bacon sandwich every few days is infinitely better than living with the advanced dementia that you might avoid 20 years ahead by cutting down on all of that good shit that makes life worth living![]()

They don't have to be leaking. You don't have to leave the bike ticking over for ages.Mine and another one I know of have fallen out without reason. It's not something to worry about, but if it does fall out in the middle of nowhere,or on the motorway at 90mph,then it can be a real spoiler.
Following your line of thought,if you don't carry a puncture kit, then you'll never get a flat and if you never carry a spare bulb, you'll never have a light blow.
And 200k on god knows how many different oilheads means feck all. It's possible you could have done all those miles and never worn a tyre out! I've done 400k on mine in 19 years and it fell out once. That's enough for me to be going on with.
