Oil light came on ???

Went for a ride today, after around 10-15 minutes the oil warning light came on

Obviously I stopped the bike straight away, switched off and checked the oil level. The oil level was in the window so I started the bike again and the oil light was off.

The light didnt come on again, but Im wondering if this could happen again.

The only thing that I can think of is that maybe there could have been an electrical short, I rinsed the bike down the night before and it was still a bit damp when I went out today - could this be anything to do with it ?

Oil switch probably playing up, may well find that it'll do it again... usually does. Quite often leak oil out between the central contact and the plastic body too!

Yeah - I got worried when mine did this a month or two after I bought it - phantom oil disappearance! The dealer said "don't worry - it's perfectly normal" - great - an oil light which is only there for decorative purposes - ah well, at least it might come on at Christmas and add to the festive lighting.
