Poor old Bertha, look like she needs some TLC.

I haven't ridden her for a while and took her out Saturday for a quick spin.

She pissed petrol all over my right foot and then the oil light came on.

Checked the oil level which was ok.

Anyway what do the panel reckon should be the sequence to resolve.

I was thinking:

Oil light switch

Oil and filter change

Cry and throw my hands up for some devine inspiration :D:D

Thoughts please:thumb

ps Sorted the stuck float in the carb so that's not an issue now

Take out the oil pressure switch and start the engine. If oil goes everywhere buy a new switch. If it doesn't buy a new pump.:thumb

Oh, and if you haven't already stopped the engine buy a new one of those as well as it'll be f, f, f,

finished by now. HTH:D

Flip,

Have you changed the oil fliter recently? If you have then you need to make sure the seals and shims are as they should be. If you have don't ride the bike until it's sorted. Read the section on canister depth here --> http://www.largiader.com/tech/filters/

Cheers Rob. Thankfully I am aware of the difficulty ref the oil filter and I have so far not touched it :thumb

Last time I rode the bike it was fine. Been around 3 weeks since I rode her last. Set out on my journey no issues then around 3 miles in the oil light came on :nenau

I'll try the switch and see what happens.

Change switch ( even you can do this :augie ) it is the usual cuprit :D

If that fails, ride it to Cornwall and get yer money back off that thievin' bugger :rob

OI !! you scouse git... We'll have less of that.

I have spoken to flip. I agree that the place to start should be the switch though I seem to remember that I replaced it not too long ago, It was doing the usual leaking thing. maybe the quality isnt what it was:ronno
