oil seal

Good morning Chaps

Has anyone replaced the oil seal behind the small square panel situated below the alternator pulley, I have replaced the green 'O' ring but I think there is still an oil leak ? Any advice would be appreciated (1200 GS 04)

There's not an oil seal behind the square cover.

If it's leaking from the cover it's got to be the O ring seal that's the problem, unless the cover itself is cracked as I think it's only plastic. I'd take it off, make sure the O ring and the seat are clean and degreased and then apply a smear of silicon gasket on the seal and its seat just to help things along a tad. Of course a new O ring is probably the correct way to go but you've done this. You sure the oil isn't coming from the crankshaft oil seal above?
