I noticed my oil sight glass was weeping, not much, but enough to make me want to change it, anyway, the original glass (I know it is plastic) was fitted in and had a small 1-2 mm lip of metal showing. I purchased a new glass and it came with a metal clip that went around it. I took my bike to a motorcycle shop and the guy changed it within minutes, ..
Now looking at the glass, it is hanging over slightly the edge 1mm, it didn’t look fully home. I phoned the motorcycle shop and spoke to the guy and explained this, he said it would be further out as the metal spacer, which he means the clip that was around it, and this caused it to be further out. I’ve done some searching on here and I just noticed that Steptoe says it is only the 1200's that have this metal clip. So, should this clip be behind the glass on my 1150 :nenau I’m worried it is going to either leak again or worse, pop out when I’m riding down the peage.:(

Please any thoughts would be helpful to put my mind at peace. And if it is wrong, a new glass will have to be purchased (£18.00 Cannons) :blast

The clip isn't used on the 1100/1150 models. Especially fitted behind the sight glass.

Surely when they removed the old glass they would have noticed that the circlip isn't used ??

Get the shop that fitted it incorrectly to replace it .
