What would be best for a high miler. Normally would use semi syth but it seems to rattle a bit more with this in so Im thinking of putting in some basic mineral oil. What do the experts say.

Mineral Oil's

I am going from Motorex synth oil to Castrol GTX. The price is a quarter of that for the synth and condidering the amount of beemers riding around the world, the change will not harm the engine.

There have been a number of forum features on this issue and if you stick to a well-established manufacturer, I doubt it would effect the life cycle of the engine compnents. I will just change it more often and see the what happens.

Awe Fatboy you had me all excited there for a minute, talk about Syths an awl. Thought you had an inside line on the new Starwars movie or summit :(

Oh well, 'May the Force be With You' anyway :D

Fatboy...there have indeed been quite few threads on oil, and a lot of debate on whether it's worth going to synthetic, semi synthetic or just pure mineral oil.

Try plugging those into the search button and settle in for a long read ;)

What oil?

Based on my dealers recommendation i'm using Shell Advance mineral oil for the first 5k, i might then shift to the semi with fully synthetic coming in at maybe 20k, but what the hell do i know i bought it to ride.
