I used to have 4 or 5 blocks on the oil temperature display. Since 1 week I often get 6 blocks. Not especially when going slow but also at motorway speeds.

Is this a bad sign? Thermostat? Oilpump? Or do they al do that at 30000 miles?

Bike is a 2004 1150 GSA.

Tnx for your feedback all.

I assume you've checked that a rodent, bird or arachnid hasn't built a nest behind the oil cooler?

check your oil level too. if it is a bit low then the temperature will start to rise.

no nest behind the grill :D

Oil is at max level.

So what else could it be :nenau

if the level is ok and the grill is clear then i am no expert but i would be thinking about a blockage first. probably flush the system first and see if that makes any difference. Also have a look at the level glass as when the engine is running it should be empty.

1150GS's DO have a thermostat, the 1100 DON'T. So I suppose it could be the thermostat sticking?? - I,m sure somebody on here had a problem before with the thermostat? - do a search?

Go for a late evening run, when the air is cooler, if you are still running 6 bars you may have a problem.
On hot days ie like today, my bike runs a bit hotter, nothing to worry about.

You cn always tape over the temp guage if you cant see it you wont know how hot it is :D

5??
6??

As long as it's not higher , don't worry....just keep a sea eye on it and ride ;)

I'm typically getting to 6 bars in London traffic and 5 on the motorway. TBH if there's sufficient oil and the grill's not blocked I'd not worry about it unless you're running more to 7 bars.
