Oil usage

Hi. I've just bought a 1200gs with 16000 miles on the clock.
After approx two hundred miles mixed riding I checked the oil, to find it was only 30% full. I know these bikes use oil but this seems a bit excessive.
I contacted the motorrad garage about this,they informed me this kind of oil consumption was normal.
Can anyone help?

Hi hughm, and welcome to the site.....

Oil usage, and particularly, how to check the oil level, is big subject.....It's not just you, most of us here have been through this, and it's just one of the (many) quirks of BMW ownership.....

I hate people saying this, BUT you really are going to have to use the 'Search' facility on the toolbar above. There are numerous threads on the subject and it's 'enlightening' to trawl through some of it.....

I suggest that you read up on it BEFORE you fly in and overfill.....There are also lots of threads on 'How do I reduce the oil level in my overfilled engine'.........
