The oil filler cap on my 1150 has started to weep a little oil (not the end of the world but I don't like it!)
It's a metal cap with 4 holes and a BMW badge in the middle.
Can you just replace the washer on these does anyone know, and if so where can I get one !

Cheers

The leak may actually be from the filler cap 'seating'(the bit in the head) rather than the cap itself, it was on mine for quite awhile, despite taking it back whilst under warranty (many years ago).

I cured it myself by popping out the seating bit, and refitting it with a decent sealant.

It should be the same as the one that comes with the stock cap 11 14 1 340 902 O-RING - 18X4 (to 12/02)

Sometimes it's the the black insert in the valve cover that weeps, in that case use this 11 14 1 340 901 O-RING (to 12/02)

All great info thanks - mines started doing exactly the same over the last couple of weeks. Very annoying:rolleyes:

Sometimes the cap and the seat are covered in crud that prevents a good seal. I cleaned mine from time to time but after a few years it was necessary to buy a new seat and o-ring.

Yes same here..leaked but took cap off did a good clean put back..solved..

I thought the entire fuller cap assembly was fitted with O-rings, including the female part that remains in the rocker cover when you remove the cap to fill. No sealant needed...

Try getting a new set of O-rings, especially fir the female part that's pushed into the rocker cover, forget sealant.

Sorry to contradict you, but sealant was the only way to cure the leak I had on the 'female' part.

No worries

Is there any damage to the rocker cover where the female part pushes into? I've had two GSs with the same issue. Both fixed with a new set of O-rings in both cases. Hence my comment.

Just a thought, but there is an assortment of O-ring sizes (and cross section diameter) in the kit. Is it feasible the wrong O-ring is fitted to yours? (not necessarily by you). With the right O-ring, it's bit of a fiddle getting that female part in.

Thanks for all the advice, a few things to have a go at there. I've given it a good clean but not been able to test it out as yet .....

Re: Sealant
I have found
On an older part with many heat cycles sealant helps.
If a new part is used with a fresh O ring no sealant is required.
