Should there be a 'tick' next to the (word) oil on the display ? I had a yellow light on last week intermittently and the CHECK comes on at start up. I've checked the oil and its about 90% up the window.

Also the black parts on the rack are flaking, looks like black paint on plastic which is flaking, it comes off when rubbed by a finger nail. Not bad after 12 months and 4,900 miles.

So its booked in for a 12 month service on 6th May, we'll see what they have to say. At least it's better than my previous (new) BMW, by this point it had broken down about 5 times.

The "Tick" displays if all is well, as long as the oil is up to operating temperature, the bike is on level ground, & is in neutral

The word check comes on when you turn on the ignition to tell you its checking things, then when it goes off you start up the bike.

Okay then, no tick, any idea what that means ?

Too low. Or overfilled, or of course a problem with the sensor (unlikely but not impossible). Try to keep the level in the centre of the glass, not at (or worse, above) the top of the glass. I have seen people who keep checking it after a short run i.e. not up to temperature, & get a false low level, so they keep topping up, so that when at operating temperature it's way too full.
