I've had a bit of time to ponder this morning and came back to this question that seems to have been knocking round my head for a few years now.
We all know that the oilhead tanks tend to hold a 'reserve' of fuel on the left lobe of the tank. Indeed, the right side empties before the left. Now, this suits me because if I run out of fuel
, I can always lay the bike on it's side and reclaim a bit to get me to the next garage. Not recomended on a French Motorway at 11 at night
So, why didn't bmw put the fuel pump on the left hand side? Would it not have made more sense? I mean, the bike leans to the left side when it's on it's side stand...
Answers on a postcard please
