which Optimate? Is it Lithium compatible?

BMW, Optimate or C-Tek are all good, just make sure it’s lithium compatible

If you buy the BMW one it’s easy to charge through the auxiliary socket

If you prefer a fly lead directly to the battery then any of these are good 👍

BMW (Ctek) gets my vote . As said earlier , plugs straight into the accessories socket

I use Chigee TR100 which works bi directionally: 1. act as trickle charger with a USB C phone charger(multiple battery types supported incl lithium) and 2. to charge phone etc. while riding.

Enough YouTube reviews to get an idea.

This is what I was given when I collected my 2025 1300GSA.

Works great.

I have the BMW one, works great, just remember to change the settings to tell it you have a lithium battery. I think it defaults to regular out of the box.

Optimate 1 , it’s all you need .

45 quid ish

The BMW charger has been removed from sale in Canada, and possibly US. Motorrad dealerships sell the Optimate

This is the one I have and you can switch between car and bike and lithium and non lithium.
Works fine

If you buy an off-beat brand of charger make sure the charger will come back on after a power outage and charges as it was before the outage. Personally, I had a cheap off beat charger on my pickup, which has an enormous battery. But when the power went off, this charger would lose site of the battery and not charge. Even though it said everything is fine ... long story.
Now I have a optimate 7 on the pickup, and two optimate fours on the bikes. One of the fours will do lithium, but has to be set for that. They all come back on and continue to charge, if the power goes out.
The other big thing that I know of is that some chargers won't see the battery if the voltage goes below something like 9 volts ... the optimates will see down to like a volt and a half ..... You get what you pay for sometimes ....

I have the Optimate 4 Gold BMW CanBus (see #10) works very well from the CanBus Din Socket or direct to the battery. Works on all types of Batteries Lead Acid/AGM/Lithium. Been using Optimate chargers for many years never had a problem highly recommended.

Optimate charger, switchable for battery type. Can use on any other bike..
Leave the the lead (with weatherproof cover) just poking out from under the seat. You then have emergency hook up to battery if required, to run a tyre inflator or similar..

Even the dealer now says just buy the Optimate..
