to clean your Airhead cast wheels?

Just got an R80 with these cast wheels - and whilst they aren't filthy filthy, they could do with a bit of Yamaha1 magic on them!!

Trouble is - nothing I can think of seems to shift the grime - the wheels even seem to be discoloured in places.

Tried Cola, which I read somewhere works miracles - no good whatsoever.

Then tried Wonder Wheels - no good whatsoever - but then, it does say on the bottle ( after you've bought the stuff, and got it home ) - "NOT for use on unlaquered wheels".

I did find a guy advertising some ali cleaner on eBay -

but a question to him about suitability went unanswered, so back to square one!!

Try soda blasting them...Im sure lots have had good results this way.

The stuff some recommend for engine cases is T euro. rubbed in with a stainless brush does clean them up But... are you sure the wheels are not laquered.. They are on my RT

Soda blasting - I have all the stuff, including a 25kg bag of soda - but a very small back garden, and the wifey's flower pots, has stopped me trying it yet - don't think she'd appreciate all white flowers!!

I did read one guy made the powder up into a slurry before blasting - if it works as well as it does when dry, that may be a slightly less messy option.

Will make some enquiries about this T Euro stuff at my local factors - couldn't seem to get any joy on the website.

"Am I sure the wheels aren't laquered" - well, no I'm not - I assumed that the roughish finish to them meant they aren't - assumed that laquered wheels would be smooth, like a car.

I get the wheels powder coated silver, usually around £50 the pair in England.
They look better than new and cleaning involves just a quick wash.

Soda blasting is the easy way forward. I got the results in the thread below with a wholly inadequate compressor and the mess wasn't quite as bad as I'd feared.
