Okay Where to next?? R80G/S carburation

Spot On! Nice one Pastyman :beerjug: :beerjug: :beerjug: The Right hand carb top metal disc was bypassing air I was able to blow up the pipe and it blew out by the disc on the top but you'd never see the crack

I knocked it out and cleaned it and sorted it lightly sealed the edge with agood quality RTV and lightly peened the alloy back down to seal it so it's made a dramatic improvement :aidan checked left and it was good

Last Few wee tweeks and she can go home and I think I'll do the idle circuits again as the tank was extremely Keek! Idle on the right carb is not as good when you do the old one plug trick :aidan

Glad to be of help and nice to know i got something right, hope she's ok now:thumb

Since I sealed that disc up the wee thing revs up and slows down now the way it should!

In fact All is pretty good except for the lumpy tickover )which may be a feature of the stainless Y piece that was fitted
I've done my best with what I have, So I'm going to strip it down and do some measuring and fettling and see if I can chase the gremlin with the wee feckin hammer from the right side rocker cover completely out of the bike! LOL

I'll Keep Ya's updated if you's are interested?

That Y piece is a Keihin copy of the original (looks like it from here anyway) I've got one fitted. It doesn't affect tick over at all. I bet the idle jet passage is partially blocked, if it is you will either have to soak the carbs in a cleaner and then try blowing them through or have them ultrasonically cleaned.

Every time I go near an airhead I end up fitting a new cam chain. This could be the cause of the knocking noise.

It's great to see them come back to life. Keep us posted :thumb

PS - An application of Wonder wheels followed by a good solvoling will do wonders for those downpipes.

Heres a tip.. Go to a gsers do where you know Rob Farmer and Proff will be, then drown your bike, put on a helpless look and gather a crowd round.....
miraculously your bike will be transformed into the sweet running thing it should be:aidan
looks a nice original bike, will be very interested in seeing its rebuild:thumb

Its about time the good fer nothing Airhead mod and his dribbling senile sidekick with the cider put on an airhead self-help therapy gig for airhead owners - I offer my bike as a donor and me as a typical numpty owner :D

Not that the pair of them don't own a million tons of German junk worthy of being the subject matter :augie

It has been mentioned before Judge. Proff was going to look into the possibility of setting something up in Devon.

It would only be a day though and not a month so that rules your bike out :D

I was around it yesterday with my screwdriver trying to centralise the knocking I spoke to the guy that owns it and he said to strip done the power plant and see if it can be sorted at a reasonable cost :aidan:aidan

post 950 Lets see if any disappear off it this time :-)

Your posts only disappear if someone deletes a FS+W add or an old posting that's been dead a long while, 'tis called housekeeping :thumb

Yep! thats the system. That collector box is £126 on it's own Linky

and then another £165 for the downpipes.

A loud tapping from the rocker box is usually too much end float in the rocker arm.
