I have bought the new helmet loom from autocom to accept IPod style earphones. When I plug the earphones I use for my Ipod (not IPod ones though) into the female plug on the loom the sound initially is very loud in one ear alone, push it in totally and you get stereo but the sound is VERY quiet, pull it out a little (to a not natural position) and the sound is loud again and in stereo. Are there different jack plugs on the ends of leads for differing uses???

Thanks.

Yes, standard 3.5mm stereo jack has one ring in the middle (making three channels) - how many rings does the jack on your earphones have ?

Just to make sure you don't have a handsfree style jack.

Alistair,

Mine has 3 black plastic rings.

Not sure if this is relevant but they work fine in my IPod, but not the Autocom.

Ian,

I'm afraid I don't have an Ipod to compare to but I think that allows for stereo hands free.

You might need a simpler connector for autocom - do you have any cheaper earphones ? :)

Alistair,

I am not sure Autocom do anything else.

Re "cheaper earphones".....no I don't but I might take a look at some tomorrow when out shopping and see if the 'ring pattern' is any different and if it is just buy them and give them a go.

Should I be looking for just one black ring on the plug?

This is a stopgap measure as mid August I am getting some personal ones made up by 'Micky' on this site.
