Old Nav IV on LC R1200GS

I had read that in order to have your Nav IV work with the wheel on the new LC, it would require a dealer upgrade to the firmware. So, anticipating that it would do little more than power up, I inserted mine, currently on V 4.50, into the the mount on the LC demo bike which I borrowed this week. Riding along, I couldn't understand why the page kept changing until I realised I was inadvertently nudging the wheel inboard of the left grip whenever I operated the clutch.

Further experimentation revealed that the wheel brought up a menu that I'd never seen in the 4 years that I've had my Nav IV and that I could scroll through it and select the items. Forward planning by BMW or what....?

Indeed but the Nav IV pre-dates the K1600 by quite some time.

What you might have read was that the bog standard 660 needs an update in order to work properly with a 1200 WC's iWheel.... or that the bike's firmwear needs amending to work fully with a generic 660.
