Hi, another newbie. I'm just about to trade in my 2007 K1200GT for a R1200GS SE, and was wondering if I should wait and get a new "1300 GS" that is roumered to be out soon. I've been offered a really good deal and the SE is a cracking bike. You guy's know about these things what are your thoughts?

Bear in mind that BMW tend to use their customers for R & D, especially with new models.

Suppose it depends whether you like dealers coffee and can spend time hanging round whilst they sort out "oversights".

Wait for the new V4 Honda Varadero that's following the new VFR 1200.

:roll
The 1200's a great bike, I love mine - there's always going to be better bikes with more improvements - you'll have to dive in at some point so if that's now - go for it.

Good luck
Ollie

I have managed to get one from CW Motorcycles in Dorchester (their last one) so I'm now in the GS club proper.

Yeah pretty lucky really, hopefully I'll pick it up on saturday.
Originally I just wanted 2nd hand GS but talking to CW they had 1 se left and when I saw a picture of it I was sold. I guess I just had the jitters thinking that a new model was coming out soon. I dont think any more extra's are needed, what do you suggest?

I've no idea what you get on the SE models as standard?
Panniers, I went for the Adventure ones.
HID lighting, the standard ones are unbelievably crap, (search for HID50).
Driving lamps with HID's? 'Be safe be seen'
Here's a few pics from a trip this year, (I own the Blue GS), for ideas;

I'm with Spout on this, I'd go for something that's sorted, rather than something that might have even more teething problems.

However, if the "new" 1200 is only the old 1200, but with HP2 heads, then it might be more of an upgrade rather than a new model. Almost like the 1100 to 1150, which have many similarities.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not sure :)

Wow, Ollie thats a sorted bike. The SE spec includes ADV spoked wheels, ADV seat, Cylinder covers, electronic suspension, Computer, tinted screen, led indicators, Dymamic & Premium packages and a black beak. Oh! and its white. I had zenon lights on my K1200gt and they were brill. I was thinking of fitting some kind of Hugger and mudguard extender, but I'll definatley consider the lights.

Welcome Squirt

I also have an SE. My third GS. Hope you really enjoy riding it. Mine is certainly better than the 2007 I had previously.

Have fun blinging it. :D

Regards,

Path.

GS virgin here, I decided I couldnt wait, but also think I will get a better price for my bike now rather than when the new one comes out. Perhaps I'm just tight like a .....
