What the best way to gauge the value of an older bike?
I have a 2005 R1200RT which I've owned for the 6 years. After a test ride on a new 1200 gs I was offered just over 3 grand for it ( against a new bike) by the dealer. Must admit I don't know if this is good or not, how do you compare values? Looked on Autotrader and there's not too much with a similar age / mileage. Also, the price that people are asking is one thing but the bikes are only worth what somebody is willing to pay.
Is a dealer service history an important consideration? Mine's been serviced every year by Motoscot which I would say compares favourably with a dealer history.
I suppose should ask several dealers for their valuation but in honesty I haven't got the time to be trekking about.
Any advice appreciated.
