On the verge of buying a 24inch iMac

Saved £214 buying one through an Ebay store, had confirmation from seller that it's a UK unit new with Apple warranty and can have Apple's extended warranty added.

Seller has a history of Mac sales and excellent feedback.

Should be here today or tomorrow. :D

It arrived just before lunch, it's exactly what was described and one happy customer! :D

My old one looks tiny compared to it!

Can I strongly recommend that, as an alternative to an external HDD, you have a look at Apples own recently launched 'Time Machine'.

I've got two x 24", a 21" and a 19" Macbook pro all connected to a 1TB Time capsule and it continuously (in real time) backs up all work on all machines. No routines to set up, no backups to remember, it just does it. Works well in conjunction with 'Time Machine' already on your Mac.:thumb2

only fair to say, there seems to be a bit of a difference between buying from apple, and buying from a reseller. for one thing, apple usually have stock for replacements, resellers are on a ration.

the only reseller i would buy from would be john lewis. same problem, but they really try to help + you get a 2 year warranty gratis.

Sorry, first line should have read 'Time Capsule' not 'Time Machine' (too late to edit):blast

how true :P

Got one.

Bought a brand new 24 inch iMac from the Apple store in Kingston yesterday. Possibly the best looking bit of kit I've bought in years.

I was going to buy online and spec it right up.
But impatience got the better of my wife (and possibly me too) and we bought one from the store - after our Apple personal shopping thang.

So expect several new posts regarding "How does this work ?"

It's a very nice bit of kit and fast too, after just a quick play - I am very impressed.

Expect several posts in the For Sale section further down the line, like Dell laptop, HP laptop, another Dell laptop, iiyama screen...

Anyway thanks for all the replies guys

Now all I need to figure out is if i can really completely do without a Windows PC. Time will tell.

cheers
Aaron

Try fusion if you need to run xp. It runs stuff like office 2003 perfectly. If you need to play games, install xp in bootcamp. This will allow you to boot your imac into xp.
