One for Arsey - Doc’s holiday take 19….

this Logis hotel https://maps.app.goo.gl/WS3gQmHwtTC47n3q9 is between Bayeux & Caen, and is my favourite place in Normandy. Little village with a couple of bars, a chateau near the hotel and a superb restaurant.

Lots of WW2 history in the area. Monty had his HQ in the local manor house and the BBC were in the aforementioned chateau. Arromanche and the new British memorial nearby.

About 111 miles from La Mere but so much to see on the way, if you move your head left and right as you honk up the A84 :)
Sent a booking enquiry. Not far to travel so time to have a ride ride round. Omaha beach being one of them.

I’ve been trying to book hotels in France for next June. Quite a lot seem to be fully booked already.

Best get on with my French Alps bookings. Stand by your beds.

I’ve even been trying one of Arseys favourites, Le Marronier in Rencurel. Fully booked.
same at my favourite in Thonon Le Baines.

Le Marronier does get booked up quite quickly. I am assuming you have sent them an email with your request? They'd be shut now for the season.

However, not all is lost, if you still wish to stay in the area.

There is this place, which seem to have attracted decent amount of good reviews. Website for your booking enquiries. Not Stayed here, but looking to be a good alternative in the location, with Le Marronier only being a mere 2 miles away.

Wife and I have stayed here in 2017. It wasn't glam, but food was very good, even for us two veggies. They let us park the bike in the underground garage too. Room wasn't the best, but then we did literally rocked up on their doorstep and asked for a vacancy. I recon it was their last room, which had a shared bathroom at the end of the coridor. I am not sure what the rest of the room are like.

EDIT: It seem the two hotels mentioned above, are part of the same establishment.

Accommodation at reasonable prices on the usual booking sites was booked up when I was looking a couple of month ago, but I managed to book a nice apartment in the next village along the coast from Arromanches from Monday - Saturday on D-Day week using the local https://www.gites-de-france-calvados.com/ site (y) Not much left at the moment for sensible money (most is a few thousand Euros o_O ), but apparently a lot of the French hotels and B&B's etc. don't accept 2024 bookings until January
