I've been having a wee South Georgia / Falklands reminiscenes thingy tonight. ..... and I've also just discovered how to scan photaes properly too if the truth be told actually......ho hum. Anyway the thing is, as you're obviously a bit of a Trouter, heres something I believe you'll appreciate.
The taste, fight and quality of the Sea Trout in FI are simply unique.

All of these were caught, on the fly, at the mouth of the Fitzroy river (Estuary type place)
Cooked lovingly with seasoned flour and that was about it. Georgeous. I have never, ever, tasted any kind of trout from anywhere like them. Pillar box red flesh and so tasty you wouldn't believe.
Weights were from 5lb down to 2 1/2 lb in this picture.
Please don't think they were killed for the sake of it either. Oh no, A vast swarm of starving sailors descended on these beauties believe me!

Suitably jealous? I hope so
If you can get yourself down there there you won't be disappointed.

Archie

Archie, I really wish you hadn't posted that :D :D

Those are cracking fish. Seatrout are my weakness and I spend more time and money chasing the buggers than is good for me. Presently being targeted by a 'friend' who wants me to part with 3 grand for a seatrout trip to Patagonia to accompany him to fish the Rio Gallegos and now you dangle the FI in front of me :blast

I knew and worked with Alison Faulkner here as a guide/instructor - she's down in FI and holds the seatrout record for the islands with a fish of 22lb 12 oz from the Warrah River, have a pic of it somewhere, a real monster.

I have a T shirt with a logo which says 'So many fish, so little time', never been truer :aidan

Thanks for posting :thumb

My father used to go "fishing" down there in the 50's - most popular method shown below.............

Go for it. You know it makes sense! If you've seen Paul Young catching a few wee ones down there then how could you hesitate?
As always - The one that got away the day of this photo was in double figures (he hangs his head in shame ....... made a bollox of it at the net didn't I:( couldn't stop shaking and was near to tears afterwards I can tell you)

All of the FI fishing was done in estuaries and out of the way places. No big named and recognized places like San Carlos or the Malo. I was happy with the quality delivered in the more out of the way and unexpected shorelines.

Glad you enjoyed the photo for the seasons end.

Bugger.........the one I lost was bigger than that. Honest :(

Nice one Noodles. Bar of silver that is :thumb

Catch n release policy on sea trout here for the last 3 years :o
I get the Finnock coming in the river about a hundred yards from ma back door. After catching/eating sea trout or finnock all other fish pale in comparison.
Airchie, cracking bag there :thumb2 but some cnut has nicked yir rid !

The fishing here is still good-during the summer i took my wife and daughter for a trip down memory lane and went trout fishing in the upper Drumragh and Camowen rivers near Omagh where i was brought up-the rivers were in perfect condition for spinning-dropping after a flood and a peaty colour. I fished four locations (places i used to fish as a kid),total fishing time about 2 hours,I caught 18 brown trout, most were small, but i kept three keepers and had them for tea that evening. Great sport with a light telescopic spinning rod, four pound breaking strain line and a number 1 copper and red spinner-each fish fought like mad to the net.

What awesome pics of the Sea Trout

Reminds me of this Father and son Team a couple of years ago when I was coming out of Bangor Co Mayo. I saw one of them struggling with the catch and by the time I got the bike stopped and unto the stand they had their quarry plus one they had caught earlier :beerjug:
