Now I have a winter hack again (why did I ever sell my RT???) I gave the GS a quick clean today. Have had two new tyres fitted recently, the old wheel weights that were removed have left rectangular sections of adhesive on the rim.

What is the best way of removing them without damaging the alloy?

Cheers
Mike

Use dental floss as a kind of cheese wire to remove the majority of the foam like material, then any of the previous suggestions (or a adhesive remover) to shift the sticky stuff.

Meths works as does acetone.

trying to remember the album your avatar came from. I bought it in the Naafi in Germany in the late 60's maybe early 70's.

"Pink Fairies" was the band?
"Fairies Wear Boots" the album?
Of course my memory might be shot due to the hallucinogenic substances which tended to accompany such tunes :nenau

Mind you, The Court of The Crimson King comes to mind also :blast

Fuck, think I'm having a flashback :barf

Three wasted years at college listening to this and Leonard Cohen.

Thanks all. Thread wandering at it's finest. King Crimson, dental floss and Leonard Cohen :D

I'm a Trangia man. Meths is the stuff for me - I'll give it a go later.

And now that I've identified the OCD sufferers around here I'll pass your details on to the relevant authorities...

Leonard Cohen was on Radio 4 a few weeks ago. He was playing a couple of nights at Wembley arena and was still alive and kicking. Unlike many of his fans from the early '70's. He was a staple of the record player in the sixth form common room - consequently I never, ever, ever, considered buying any of his dirges for myself. :tears

Hmm. :D
ANYhow,
the 70's- more nudges for the memory;

Curved Air.
Marc Ellington.
Suicide (maybe too obtuse :nenau )
Yes.
Greenslade.

Any more?

Memory's not so wonderful but I was at college in Dunstable and Dunstable was blessed with two venues the Queensway hall (now a Asda) where I saw Hawkwind and many others, cutting from Local paper.

They included bands like REM, Pink Floyd, Procol Harum and Iron Maiden. ELO arrived very late for a gig and their notoriously tough manager (Sharon Osbourn's dad!) agreed to accept half the normal fee in compensation.

In the days of punk rock, the Sex Pistols were early successes. But audience behaviour became unacceptable. Debbie Harry of Blondie refused to go on stage at one point because of the threatening behaviour of the crowd. And a concert by The Clash, singing a rewritten anthem titled Dunstable Is Burning, ended in a semi riot which made headlines nationwide. All this caused much local heart-searching and the hall decided to cancel the next concert, for which the Boomtown Rats had been booked. The council had to pay compensation to Bob Geldof and his colleagues.

and the California (Cali) (now a housing estate) which was noted for Motown bands amoungst others I enjoyed seeing Ben E King and KC and the Sunshine band there.

Happy days.

Earthbound is one of my all time favorite albums.

I found it in an uncles collection after he died.

Always play it at the cottage in Wales where I keep my records :thumb
