Just though i would share a warning to walkers.

Dont follow trails blindly.
Sadly the famous Wainwrights Coast to Coast walk for example, which has been entered onto the OS Maps website by Trail Magazine is badly mapped.

You start the C2C and within the first minute your walking up a cliff and off the track.
You can clearly see the correct dotted line track.

I am surprised someone at OS hasnt corrected such a famous route, the whole route is littered with mistakes as are many other routes.

The answer is to click the "copy and edit route" button and go along snapping it back to the correct path as i have done in the below image.

This sort of thing is scary, mainly because blindly following a track on a map or no track at all without understanding what the map is telling you is scary.

An example would be an escape route, perhaps from a ridge walk. The descent down could be steep and may well be shrouded in cloud. How many contour lines to cross in .5cm on a 1:25000 map is doable and how many you say ‘No’. Of course we are all different in ability but it’s good to be able to read the map before committing.

Just goes to show, check the route before setting off. You would have to be a bit dim to follow the first route as its obviously not the path.

Yes.
To me that looks like someone has recorded their track and its only updated every 5 minutes, causing straight lines.

Would take 2 minutes after uploading to correct it though.
Soon as you edit and click with mouse it automatically snaps to the path, bit surprised by Trail Magazine.
