Oops-bought an old shitter- collective thoughts required please .

Yes you have the standard screen. MRA is probably the best and really cuts down the wind noise and buffeting, although you have to also buy the standard 1150GS windscreen mounts (Motoworks) I’ve got tobinators on mine ….. a rare find now.
Being fick, can you explain why I need the standard 1150GS mounts to fit an MRA lip on top of windscreen ? Ta

I’ve got a cheapie clip on screen somewhere but fuck knows where !
Might try this

Can get it for £44 delivered

Ok ta.
I’m going to try that Puig as it’s only £44, and it’s not dreadful as is.

Ta for all the advice .
It will help a bit. But the main problem with the 1150 s screens, especially for taller folk like us, is they are angled low.

Do you think it’s the lack of “wings “ on the 1150 . My 1300 has a similar height screen, but has wings , and they seem to help a great deal with turbulence .

Away on the bike for the first time .

She runs very well and now very comfy .
Only slight issue is screen is crap, at least compared to my Vstrom 1050 . It’s rather noisy , though I did forget my earplugs .

Is that the standard screen I’ve got and would an MRA lip thing help ? The screen is angled back quite a bit so deflects airflow and buffet into my helmet .
This works for me!

A MRA screen for the 1150GS, with GS screen fittings

3 different screen rakes
3 different upper screen heights

Multiple permutations-nothing better on the market

Result is you’ll get something setting wise, that suits you and no buffeting or wind noise

Only solution after riding 1150 GS for last 25 years, is a MRA GS screen

The best solution is the MRA with standard GS Lite windscreen fittings and a set of GS Lite Tobinators—it's what I had fitted to my ADV for ages, after a lot of trial and error. They basically give you an infinite range of adjustment, allowing you to control the airflow completely on the bike.

And one thing no one has mentioned - see if you can find a set of Ricky Bars. Ricardo Kuhn from ADVrider is an engineer with another degree in ergonomic design. He made handlebar mounts for the 1150, which allowed the fitting of ProTaper alloy handlebars, but - more importantly - hugely improved the ergonomics. They honestly make the bike feel half its weight. Every time I rode a GS with standard bars, I kept wondering how I ever put up with them.

I'm pretty sure Ricky stopped making them many years ago, but when I was building my last Adv in 2012/13, they were still available for sale now and again. I'll try to find a post I made during my original (2004) trip to the USA, which covered the best mods I'd made to the bike at that time - HERE it is (post 560) :)

Here's a pic of the mounts and bars—their design and machining are exquisite...

Since you are often across the Atlantic, picking up a set wouldn't be too difficult, once you've found them. You'll not regret fitting them.

What is that headlight/oil cooler guard with the wings for lights called please @MikeO

I have one on my 1150 but for the life of me can't remember who made them. I know they are very rare now too.

It's an American-made bit of kit by a firm called Top of the Line, Aidan. They haven't been made for well over a decade. Someone in Australia had one in 2012, which I bought for my last Adv... :D

Torbinators if you can find a set.

i have puig on my vstrom. it's not very big. could be doing to be a bit wider and taller. that is the flip extension i'm speaking of.

Just a heads up .
I’m taking my Wing to Brittany next month and will be bringing the 1150 back then selling it .
I’ll offer it initially with everything , so complete with Sargeant seat, used for about 100 miles from new , low seat , OE shock , reconditioned by Denz0 and unused since , plus Hagon shock currently on bike, plus assorted bollox such as Baglux tank cover etc .
I’ll be pricing it to sell….
