Got £800 off it and promised a good deal next spring on a CB1000F should I want one after a demo ride somewhere .
It’s a lovely thing to ride and the e-clutch is brilliant . Like a very slick quick shifter but it won’t stall . Much simpler than DCT but Honda only charges £100 premium to fit it.
It’s quite clever in that you can tailor the gear change feel to your own preference.

Not had a 4 cylinder bike since my H2 SX SE in 2018 ish.
The 650 is a lovely motor. Puts out 94 bhp but needs revving to exploit the power .
Should be a fun toy for a few potters out for coffee etc .
Fit and finish is pure Honda and I love the green colour.
So that’ll be three Hondas in the garage and not one traditional manual between them .

Looks great in that green colour Martin.
Good old Honda.

I would imagine it's a sweet little engine so it should be a fun motorcycle to ride. How are the comfort and ergonomics? The riders seat looks fairly flat which is nice.
I like it…………but didn’t China have something similar?! lolIt’s quite possible it’ll be gone by the spring .
I like the look of the new CB1000F but it has a 795 mm seat height compared to 810 on the 650.
Probably a wider seat on the bigger bike though .
I’ll definitely try a 1000 in UK before getting one .
But I got the 650 for cost price and it’ll also stop me buying an X-Diavel I can’t afford
The CB650R was a rash decision but you’re dead a long time .
My mate who owns the X-Diavel is now selling his second X-ADV as he wants an adventure bike to do one last trip before he moves upstairs.
Puts it all into perspective
I only did 4 miles as bike is unregistered and not a demo as such.
Seems pretty comfy, with slight lean to bars taking weight off back . Pegs could be a tad lower for me at 6’1” but it seems pretty good, ergonomically.
It’ll go well.Red line at 12500 rpm. I only took it up to 6000 ish but it was starting to really pull.
It’s supposedly 94bhp ,so 4 more than Hornet, though it only makes 63Nm of torque at 9500 rpm compared to Hornets 75 at 7250rpm.
So it hasn’t got the midrange of the Hornet or similar but it’s so smooth you can stick it in 6th at 30mph.
And a nice change to have a bike you need to work to get the best out of it .
It was a very rash purchase , drawn in by the colour and curiosity about the e clutch, and always like something a bit different .
On that short ride the e-clutch seemed very good and a no brainer for an extra £100.
I know the dealer well and the fact that he’ll do me a good part ex on the CB1000F next year sealed the deal, along with getting the bike at cost.
Think I said earlier, this 650 has an 810 mm seat height compared to 795 on the forthcoming 1000, but I reckon the 1000 may still feel taller as the seat looks much wider.
I will definitely try a 1000 in UK when demos are available but I might prefer this 650 ?
Collecting it tomorrow.Given we're well in to Fall are you going to register and insure it or wait til Spring? Or do you have that option?
I suppose you can put a set of lower pegs on, even 15-20mm will make a difference and the brake and shifter adjustment can compensate for that. I'm probably going to do this on my CB500X.
Smooth, revvy little 4-cylinder engines have their own charm.
I saw Honda shows thicker comfort seat for the upcoming CB1000.
But I ride all year round and have one insurance policy which covers all bikes and runs the whole time.To save 5-6 months of license and insurance cost but it may not work there becauseI don't know your procedures. I haven't titled, transferred the plate, or insured the CB500 and will just wait until Spring at this point. I probably should have because I've been riding is a good deal this month but.....
Winters are pretty mild here. Roads are never salted/gritted unless we get an actual dump of snow which is about once a decade.I didn't know you rode through winter, and honestly what winter's like where you are, so disregard my question. My single policy here covers all the bikes as well but naturally when a bike is added mid term the insurance increases with a pro-rated additional premium. If I added it now at the end of the season there would be little benefit while it just sits in the garage until probably April.
