Hi all, normally I frequent the airhead and B&B section, rarely stray in here BUT...........

I have the oppertunity to purchase a 1995 1100RS in cobalt blue, 73k miles (but engine replaced a few thousand K ago for a 30k unit) not immaculate but not a shitter either, ABS, 8 months MOT, partial service history, BMW top box and panniers, asking price £1050.

Sound about right?

I have no idea on oilhead values, never owned one but this looks like it could be an OK winter hack but actually looks just about decent enough to keep tidy as well.

Any thing I need to know about these, faults, foibles, strict no no' s......?

Any advice greatfully recived.

Thank you!

i have also just bought an 1100rs to use over the winter, just give it a service and a new battery the other day also just nipped up the paralever bearings as there was a little play.very very basic bike easy to work on too.the price you are paying seems more than fine to me,even if you have to spend a few quid on it i think you wont loose out on it as long as nothing expensive gives problems :thumb

Loved my RS and would have another one tomorrow if I had the space. Price seems right and it's hard to see how you could lose on it. My only concern would be the gearbox. The early gearboxes were not the strongest but if the the bike has been well cared for, or if you are just plain lucky, it could be problem free. At the very least, try to take it for a ride and listen carefully and look for any gear selection issues.

Many thanks chaps. Agreed to see it, aranged a time, turned up, no one about, no answer at the door etc.

Phoned the guy on his mobile while I was there, he claimed he hadnt made an appontment (which we had of course) and he was in fact away, suddenly he was asking "what bike was it again, A BMW you say?, dont think so mate, you (as in me) must be mistaken"......

WHilst I was on the phone to him I was standing looking at his house, could see through into the back garden, could see the bike that had been advertised......and saw him ducking down behind some furniture as our eyes met....

Prick.
