30 day warranty covers your arse somewhat. The paint job might be new but repainting these is a specialist job involving 4 different spray guns (I think). An lesser paint job, new or not, on a 90S will devalue it. Having said that it looks OK in the pics.

Must be blokes here who have dealt with Motorworks in person. For mail order parts I have found them to be honest and efficient.

seems alot to pay for a bike like this....but if you've always wanted one and you have the dosh, buy it and enjoy.....

You do realise that, imho, this bike will go for a minimum of £6.500 - £7000 +

Mines [ owned since 1980 ] original from 1975, not even £10K + would buy her..
[I have been offered that for her....
37,000. mile, full history..]
I also own a Grey R90s, 1974, which also is not for sale...
They don't make them anymore and except for an R69s are the most desirable of all twin shock airheads..

Also.
The much rarer, quicker, lighter and easier to ride BMW R100cs is only just now starting to appreciate in value...
Look for one of those, better than money in the bank :thumb2

I like it a lot.

Go get it if ya can but I think it's money might go a tad higher than the bid so far.

And its only done 2,300 odd miles a year so not that bad.

I rode a CS twenty odd years ago fitted with 4 valve Krauser heads and seem to remember it being a pretty quick bike. Probably worth a fortune now.

Thanks for the replies.....I'm expecting it to go for around £6.5K, but who knows :nenau......I hummed and hahhhed over a minter in 2008. It was being sold for £4,150......:blast :blast :blast :blast....I still have the 'Classic Bike' ad' in my wallet.

Classic 'bike prices are definitely on the rise...poor investment returns eleswhere eh?

Ebay can be a funny old place. I've seen numerous 'bikes fetch much higher prices in the auctions, than they ever would from a classified sale.

Had better stay off the ale this week, ebay and alcohol do not mix...:augie

The auction houses are full of 'Investment Bikers' who have loads of dosh but little care about motorcycling. I've got no time for them. All they are doing is pushing ownership of classic bikes beyond the reaches of the ordinary enthusiast.

The standard R90/6 is a much better bike in my opinion. Have a look at Eng's http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1640618&postcount=64

Rich C has one as well but I can't find the link :blast

Lovely sweet engines without the spitting and farting from the Dellortos.

Over restored R90s bikes are as common as dog muck and scarcely get a glance.

As Proff says the CS with the tall gearing is the one to have :thumb2

The 100CS was the first BMW I ever rode at an IOM BMW open day in, probably, 1982 really nice bike. I've ridden an R90S and it doesn't compare although to be fair the 100CS was a new demonstrator and the R90S was 30 years old when I rode it.

Re the Dellortos.....Interesting......:thumb2

I've seen the pics of Eng's 90/6 many times.....Fabulous.

He also has/had a stunning black/smoke R90s. Again fabulous, but that Daytona Orange gets me every time.

I asked for opinions and I've got some.....Cheers.....:thumb2

I agree, the R90S is an iconic BMW, the 100CS, 100S and 90/6 may be better bikes but will never reach the same status. I bought mine because I grew up with photos of Reg Pridmore and Steve McLaughlin racing 90Ss and like Jonnie Comet have always wanted a Daytona orange one, common sense played no part in my decision :D.

I could have written that....:thumb.

Don't know if the orange ones fetch a premium. In July's 'Classic Bike' magazine there was a black one for sale. A 1976 one owner, with just 5,500 miles on her, it was up at £6,100. It was still advertised in August's mag' so I'm not sure if it sold. My gut feeling is that if it had been orange, then it would have been more expensive and it would have sold easily.

Like the man said "common sense played no part in my decision".....:D

Colour?

It's a personal choice. I wouldn't touch an orange one - common! The 90S is more capable than the 90/6 (having done thousands on both) and an all round better ride.
Just looking at the photos of the motorworks bike, it has too much wrong (not correct!) with it to justify the price. My advice would be to wait, as prices of these are cyclic. I tried to sell either the 90/6 or 90S about 18 months ago, for a reasonable £5000 or £6000 respectively, and nobody wanted them. Both bikes are mint original items, and if I were to sell the 90S now I would expect it to realise £8000 plus! (not that it is for sale any time soon).

Just a small but important point.>>

Not true.
A fair few of us lusted after them but times was hard :rob

Also, i see you have gone same route as me>>
Full fork gaiters instead of the sexy little slide type :drool

Still got the originals tho' :thumb2

Apologies

Yes, true - there was a demand, but not at the right price. I have again been considering selling the 90S, but have, as Ricky Tomlinson would say "had a good word with myself" as I know that I would not find another original unrestored example in this condition. It isn't even about money, I just get the urge to buy something else :blast
If I think about all the hard to find mint bikes that I have sold on, I could cry. I am starting to learn - slowly.
:thumb2

I mustn't sell!!!!!!!

Eng...As I have said, your ‘bikes are simply fabulous and I can’t imagine anybody not wanting to own one. Colour preference is part of the ‘ying and yang’ of ‘biking. Just like, you think the R90s is a better ride than the R90/6, while Rob Farmer would disagree...:rob

Proff’s right about ‘hard times’.....Maybe in a couple of years we’ll be saying “He only wanted eight grand for his R90s”

Thanks for your input re the Motorworks ‘bike......I’ve always been bowled over by a pretty face.....:D
