Optimate connection

Jeezus,it's just a 12 volt motorbike battery that's needing charging,FFS.

It doesn't matter one fecking jot if your bike has a traditional wiring loom,a canbus system,a fibre optic system or even pieces of damp string.

It's still just a fecking battery that you are wanting to charge.

Connect directly to it and be done, for Christ's sake.

Those incapable of finding their own bike's battery and not knowing how to connect to it really shouldn't be left on their own to do fecking anything at all.

Guess that last bit was aimed squarely at me :eek

While I bow to your knowledge and your amassed 13000 posts, some people are new to these bikes, they cost an arm and a leg to buy so before doing stupid things asking the "experts" may be a good idea, maybe not?

Look at the amount of posts I have placed, then think ice breaker question.

Fully understand the theory of charging a battery, all my bikes have maintenance chargers fitted, some across the poles some via a socket, one even has a mag connector I made up to see if it would work.

So maybe advise and not sarcasm is the way to go? Or is it just me?

Don't worry too much about the sarcasm on here, you'll soon get used to it.:thumb This lot tend to get all crotchety this time of year!:D They'll be able to ride their bikes again soon, once the sun comes out.:beerjug:

I guess some people spend more time posting sarcastic comments than riding bikes.

If you ride the chuffin bike then there is never any need to charge the chuffin battery - why the FUCK people get so worked up about battery charging never ceases to amaze me ;)

To be honest the guy asked a straight forward question. Nobody knows his mechanical. Aptitude, and his trepidation with the canbus system is understandable. But saying that people did try to point him in the right direction and it did, nt seem to fuckin sink in. If he is unsure, the best place for him would be the dealers.

Any suggestions....

Get a dealer to do it.

That's just one, mind. I'm sure there'll be others.

Yup you are right, but I have limited free time and three bikes. Any suggestions other than sell two of them.

Connect it directly to the battery via the special lead that comes with the optimate. It's what I do on all my bikes (including a 1200GS)

Ignore the piss taking on here. It's just a sign that you've been accepted into the group :thumb2

Oh, and feel free to give it, as well as take it :duck:

PS. Once you get called a tosser, then you know you've definitely been accepted.

PPS. Read the bike manual. There's lots of good info in there. I know as men we don't read instructions, but it's more of a bible really... :P :P

Seriously? You can't pick one of the many suggestions so far? I'd get a dealer to work your brain too.

I think he was referring to being able to ride all three bikes regularly to charge the batteries, with limited free time?

Before I joined this forum I wondered what the referral to tosser was, but after some of the replies I have had, I think I get the idea.

If this is the way you guys treat a new member, it is a wonder you ain't all alone here.

I may not know much about these bikes or pancakes even, but I do know a tosser when I come across one,.

.... If this is the way you guys treat a new member, it is a wonder you ain't all alone here....

But we're not all alone.... far from it in fact.... and we've been here for almost 13 years now :thumb

What you have to ask yourself is.... "maybe I don't get it" ;)
