Don't bother with new bike buy ex demo save the VAT and do a deal on extras.

Can you explain - how you save the vat (20%) when you buy a second-hand bike?

Go into some detail, if you can - I'm keen to get that discount.

As we know, the whole VAT nonsense is a UKGSER theory, that is incorrect.

we have ordered a fully loaded WC R1200RT LE, circa £17K expecting delivery March. Cash all the way, no part ex. Pidcocks, Nottm.

Realistically what would you be happy with for a serious freebie?
:

So spill the beans, what did they offer.

The deals on the accessories should be done with the order and used as a bargaining tool,
Too late afterwards in my books ....... You might be lucky and get a service that costs them sweet nothing.

They certainly get you back though, with £1000 for a topbox

How can they justify £1000 for a topbox, I dunno :blast

New box has Hydraulic lift assist struts and central locking, and a fitted mat!

However there's no need to go down this ridiculously expensive route, after checking on this forum to make sure that the pre-LC box would fit, I found a S/H air-cooled top box already superbly painted in the correct colour Ebony, source ebay, price paid £320.00.

The lock that came with the box was re-keyed at Pidocks to fit my original bike key at a total cost of £10.00

Another bonus is that the pre LC box has got to be quite a bit a lighter too, without all the hydraulics the C/Locking and the fitted carpet. I hate adding extra weight to a bike, especially when it's above the seat height.

No money has changed hands yet, I can still walk away.

Not if you have signed the sales order. I can't understand whare you are coming from on this. Either you have orderd one or not. It's a bit late to go looking for something when the deal is done. A fool and his money.....

Hydrolic lid opening? A few questions what oil does it take? Can it be used without the engine running? Is a double acting ram? Or does it rely on Gravity to close? Or is it a pressurised gas strut? Greatest load of bollocks " hydrolic opening". Must be one of the greatest exaggerations ever. ( not really) but it's still bollocks. Capital H and all. JJH

Good luck with getting anything..Grab what you can..

.A couple of words of warning though. I did a customer order June last year for my 2014 RT and got the bike in September. I went for the SE with C/locking and alarm and the top box..which the dealer did for £725 plus £120 for painting, yeah a huge amount but I didn't have a 2012 box as I px ed my 1150 rt....I never use the panniers but need a topbox for work..try filtering through Oxford with them on..impossible..lol

I think my package came to about £15.5kin total...though they did me a good deal on my PX and BMW paid for the most of the Top box due to the recall issues and the time it took to get my bike. Things I didn't go for were

Dynamic mode...my first dealer told me that it was simply a module you could activate via the BMW com cable so said not to bother!...yet to see if that works. Somehow now I own the bike I doubt it.
I didn't go for the radio..sod paying £1k for a radio... No one wants to hear my taste in music and I certainly don't want to hear yours!
I didn't pay for hill start or Auto shift..frankly if you need either of these options you shouldn't be riding on the roads IMO.
I didn't go for Chrome exhaust as I bought the Callista Matt grey model and I think it looks tons better with the brushed stainless can.

The one thing that really pissed me off though...excuse my swearing ...was no one told me the angel eyes were extra...no one mentioned it..at any time..ever...the whole look of the front of the bike completely different as standard and yet it wasn't mentioned...."would Sir like the Professional lights?" now at the time I did my research and I was told, and confirmed later by my dealer that this option had been around for a while on the K series bikes...so doing my research online and forums I found out that this included adaptive headlights on the K's and that most people who had them on their K series said don't bother as they are useless and a pain. So, in my opinion, rightly assuming that the pro kit had something similar to make it "pro", as I wasn't told any different and it certainly isn't explained in the brochure, I declined. I'll save the £250 thanks..I need some new boots..

I mean those beautiful round headlights that give the RT its signature look front end..that are on every single press shot and Internet photo I have ever seen online bar 1..yes I found one about 3 weeks ago. The look that made it stand out and scream buy me...the look that that is still my phones screen saver.... I mean why would you even begin to assume that they were an extra...they are the bloody lights for God's sake...I mean what next.."Oh Sir wanted paint with that" oh hang on....lol...In its place I get 2 of the "poxy"ist sidelights man has ever made..it looks like a mouse holding 2 tiny birthday candles....remember those pathetic little lights we used to use in Physics to show how current worked when at school...yup..worse...arrgghh...as you can now tell it doesn't bother me at all...oh no...lol

Oh don't assume you get them on the LE as standard either. Cause you don't ..I think you have to buy one of the other packages...But What also made me laugh was, if I remember correctly, the pro lights were described as "daytime running lights" ( which I now presume to be the angel eyes) well so does mine..well I can't turn the bloody lights off even if I wanted to. Its not an option. I did try upgrading my stupid sidelights with Canbus LEDs to make me more visible but my bike thinks that my sidelights have blown so I have a permanent warning light on the dash..just ridiculous. So sadly my RT looks like.....well not an RT if I am honest.

I did ask my dealer what I could do about it..because as you can probably tell I am not happy about it..apparently I can retro fit but for £750...so that's not going to happen anytime soon.

On a less ranty not...I really wish I had pushed for the Sat Nav as I didn't realise at the time how much stuff it could integrate with my phone and SRC on my helmet. That's my bad and I am saving for one..though it will take some time. (full time charity worker so permanently skint)

So please don't make the same mistake as me and make sure you check what you are NOT getting when you order....you've been warned!

Git... ;-)..anyway I win..you wasted a grand on a radio......:blast

As a matter of interest did you customer order or buy off the shop floor?

I ordered mine fully loaded with every available option, as that's the way I do things.
YOLO and life's too damned short to piss about.

I don't plan on being the richest man in the cemetery.
