My lovely Omega Speedmaster MK2 Chronograph from 1969 is up for sale. I have hardly worn it since I’ve owned it and it recently came back from a service (David McKane aka Benchdweller) so will have plenty of life left in it.
It comes on a NOS Omega bracelet that will fit up to just under 7”3/4 inch wrist. Also comes fitted with a new set of hands and new crystal and new pushers and seals etc from an Omega service in 2019. The dial is an original Tritium one so don’t expect it to light up in the dark anymore. Casewise it’s in great condition showing only a few minor marks as seen in the pics. Lots more pics are available for any interested parties. The sun bursting(brushed effect) on the topside of the case is pretty mulch unmarked which is very rare on these as it always seems to take a punishing. The chronograph pushers work perfectly and it keeps good time.
This is a 56 year old watch so although it maybe deemed to be water resistant never take in the water or sauna. The original hands ,pushers, crystal and used service parts are also provided with the watch.
Located in Portishead (Somerset)
Price is - £2500 via Bank Transfer and that will include RMSD delivery - UK sale only thanks.
Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to ask and I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

That is truly beautiful
You are correct about the sunburst brushing as once it gets worn it is a very difficult job to bring back ( my 1969 flight master has the same brushing and is why I bought it because it was untouched and good which is rare )

GLWS

I love watching skilled restoration videos, here’s one for a Mk4 Speedi with sunburst finish, nothing short of incredible.

I’ve no idea how much this fella in Germany charges, but if you have a sentimental item that looks like scrap, he’s probably the man to speak to.

Thanks for your compliments guys:) it is indeed a lovely watch but it’s got to go as I never wear it. I received a question regarding the bracelet. It’s a 1162/173 and was purchased brand new (old stock) and is virtually unmarked and hardly worn.

I recently bought a very nice watch from Stills, as good, if not better than described. I would love to own this one too and wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again.

Some thinking time for me on this one ... :drool

I would love this, being born in 1969 it would be the ideal watch for me.
Sadly cant afford it :(

Unless you take half now and half in 6 months LOL

I have the other problem....... An adoring wife that would be a lot less adoring if I spent £2500 on yet another watch for my collection, she would see it as a two week far eastern holiday sat in a drawer.

If you want a beautiful and affordable birth year watch, check out vintage Seiko models.

There are a ton of them, easily dateable by serial number on the back (first digit is the year in the decade it was made, second digit/character is month of manufacture).

Loads of cracking Japanese market watches on ebay and watch sites from pocket money upwards. I own two Seikomatics from my birth year of 1966, about £100 each IIRC.

For about £400 you canget a nice King Seiko with High Beat movement.....

Grand Seiko also go for similar money, hardly a Kings ransom for such a handsome timepiece.

I'd love a proper Speedmaster Chrono its my grail watch, but she would kill me. :D

Nice (y)

I've been thinking about this for a while, buying a luxury watch not just for my benefit but to pass to my son when I'm gone.
my son loves nice things and I just know if I left him a nice watch he would be very proud and look after it.

I know with these things, the value shouldn't matter, but if your leaving it to someone it adds to the sentimentality of it and the year of birth is a nice touch too.

If my dad had left me a nice watch from 1940 his year of birth I would had treasured it.

I have a silver half-hunter pocket watch and chain from my mother’s dad, the English side of my family, he died when I was very young but I adored him. He was quite the sportsman and his football and cricket medals are affixed to the chain.

It’s probably low value but to me it’s like the Crown Jewels or a lottery win, I’m tempted to put it on the BBC repair shop as a feature, it could do with some tlc.

I might put a picture up of it later on the “show us your watches” thread if I can dig it out.
