I wonder if someone can help?

The right-angle bracket which holds the exhaust at the top (under seat frame) has sheared off the exhaust. The two bolts securing the bracket to the exhaust have rusted through and both sheared - any ideas how I get the remaining bits out the exhaust and make a repair? The exhaust is in great condition apart from this.

Cheers in advance for any help.

have you tried drilling the remainds of the old bolts out. you have to be careful to get the drill in the centre of the bolt once you have done that you could then run a tap downd the thread to clean it out. or give hart meatalcraft in wivenhoe a call and he should be able to sort it out for you.

That's exactly what I did with my exhaust, it worked a treat then replace the old rusty bolts with nice shiny stainless ones :thumb2.

I use what in Oz is called an Easy out. :clap
Drill the the correct size hole in the bolt first and screw in the Easy out -it tightens in the direction that the bolt unscrews. Give it a libreal dose of WD40or similar a while beforehand.
Run a tap over the threads to clean out any rust and use Coppercoat or another antisieze product on the new bolts.

A set of Easy outs is inexpensive and an essential tool for those fiddling with older bikes. :thumb

Thanks guys - really appreciate the advice and will give it a go. If all else fails, I'll take a trip to Wivenhoe!

Cheers all
