Ortlieb Rackpacks and Roll Bags

Ortlieb Hip-pack

Hi Deadskin,
Yes they do if you are refering to this; URL="http://www.ortlieb.com/_prod.php?lang=en&produkt=hippack"]HERE[/URL] 7.2ltr waterproof bumbag with external mesh map/accessory pockets and water bottle holder.

A very tidy and neat bag. Admitedly not the cheapest out there, but few others are actually waterproof.

cheers

John

Ordered mine yesterday morning, 3 e mails giving order progress and the bag arrived 8.30 this morning. Cracking service :thumb2

same day posting..

Thank you madmikey, I try to get orders posted out the same day if I can. It is sometimes not always possible, but I certainly try.

Mine arrived today as well (ordered yesterday) - top service John many thanks.

I think "across the seat" is going to be best on the KTM. Still a touch big (shame they don't do a ~40l one :augie ) but should work a treat.

Thanks again.

Markie

Enquiries..

Your most welcome Mark, we aim to please. Hope it does the trick for you.

For those who have enquired about black rackpacks, I have ordered new stock today and they should be arriving monday.

Also ordered are some more jetboil stoves (including the group model version) as well as 2ltr water bags for those who have been asking.

Compression bags and tents..

Forry, Yes certainly.. dependant on the size of tent of course.

BUT.. make sure you roll your pegs and poles right into the middle of the tent before you put it in the stuff sack and try compressing it and don't get carried away compressing. Or you could easily wind up with bent poles or a peg puncturing your flysheet.

Oh that are also pretty good for cloths and bukly fleece liners for bike jackets.. :D

Jetboil Group system

Hi Tuned sorry missed your post there, the Jetboil Group System is basically the same burner with built in ingitor unit as the personal system with additional stabiliser feet, pan support and 1.5ltr pot with induction fins on the bottom. See here;Group Cooking System

So you have the option of using their port, or any camping pans set you like with this kit.

As with the original "pcs or personal cooking system", it all fits into the post, gas cartridge (if you use small ones) and all.

The jetboil made cups, pots and frying pan, have specially made heat induction fins on their bases, which clip to the burner unit, which makes your gas cartridge go around twice as far depending on what your heating/cooking.

If you have one of the personal cooking system and want to use other pans, frying pans etc jetboil do a stabiliser and pan rest ket, see here;
Stabiliser Kit. In addition Jetboil also do a frying pan, 1.5ltr pot, and coffee press for those caffiene addicts out there..

Been told the coffee press works a treat. (See here.

I don't have any of the pots or frying pans in seperately at the moment. If anyone would like one, I will be ordering again soon and will get some in.

Update: The stock delivery that was due on monday, has arrived early. So I have more rackpacks and motorcycle roll bags in stock, well till you clear me out again...lol. :)

yellow rackpacks bags back in stock..

For those who were asking, had some more yellow rackpacks in yesterday.

Have some new items also to go on for the end of the week, but not had the photo's from the manufacturers yet.

.. but you can minimise the sag a little I would presume by adding a stiff card or plasti card former into the base of the bag then fill as per normal. I did similar with a north face bag I used to use to make the base a bit more rigid, when it was not full. I used a piece of old house for-sale sign.. :augie

The way the rackpacks close, means that a tension is placed across the length and end of the bag. This should help keep the sag to a minimum if the bag is reasonably full, if the bag is very emtpy then it will not do much.
The suggestions of compression strap and bungie would in theory work if i have pictured the issue correctly.

Other options that might be worth a look is say a 10cm wide rigid piece of acrylic or similar durable plastic that you can place under the bag and between the seat which is of suitable length, say at least half the bag length to act as an external support

I've used one for years - work and camping - on bike and off.
Love it.
Always stuffed too much to roll as many times as apparently recommended (never read the manual) but never had it leak.
As far as droop, the tighter you pack it the less it will droop - also, you can strap it on to the bike upside-down and the rolled-up bit on the bottom will stop it from drooping. On the road on long trips, I actually improved my mileage slightly with the bag longitudinal... streamlining actually made a small difference. I noticed this over the same route at the same speed etc a couple of times... didn't believe it at first, but there ya go. If using an extension of some sort, I would just use a bit of plastic under the bag...for a coupla quid, you can buy a piece of coroplast from a sign-makers shop - it is corregated plastic that weighs nuthin(ish) and can be cut with scissors or a sharp knife, but is quite rigid. Personally, I would use the stiffener outside the bag, as otherwise, doing up the bag tightly will force the corners of the stiffener to push against the fabric of the bag... why stress it any more than you need to?
Hope this helps - glad to hear you have a dealer for those bags on your side of the pond... they are very well made. and ever so much easier to load than the old end-rolling canoeists bags.

New items.. torches, shrink bags and Hip-packs

I have had some new items in the shop as of today. A selection of Petzl Head Torches, some new shrink bags from exped and a few Ortlieb Hip-packs.

The Ortlieb Hip-packs seem to be going down well with green laners as well as general bikers. A neat little 7.2ltr waist pack. If you don't want a backpack, these are a possible alternative. Maybe not the cheapest out there, but havent seen another that offers the water resistance these do.

I have a few items on back order, so more to come in the next few weeks too and oh some of our sale reductions will be finishing at the end of Jan, so don't wait too long.

promotional stickers..

I have more rackpacks in for all sizes.. inc the large 89ltr bags.

And for those brand loyalists out there who like to decorate their panniers and bikes, any orders for ortlieb made items will get some free stickers whilst the stocks last. :D.

Exped Down Mats

Just had some Exped Down Mats come in at last. Both 7cm and 9cm mattresses and I also have some of the Exped comfort foam mats too.

Have cleared the last of 2007 tents and am now waiting on the expected march arrival date for 2008 ranges.

Mats are here: http://www.gearpac.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=22

Not many left..

Not many exped down or foam mats left, though hoping to have more in march once this set has gone.

Rocks,
Bought a couple of the XXS sacks to fit in my pockets.
Excellent quality - good price.

Thanks.

Cheers Clem, hope they did the trick for you. Great little range of bags those ones, I use one for my wash kit and another for my loo roll, whilst camping.
