Here and there.....
Back off on tour with Mrs J in a couple of weeks.This year looking to go down eastern side of france on day 1 staying at Dun sur meuse. On day 2 we will move into the southern area of the Black forest in Germany for night 2. Never been there so would appreciate any advice on good roads and places to stay. We will be camping. Day 3 will take us through Switzerland into Northern Italy where we will stay for a few days before moving back towards the French border, then a few days in Provence. So although posted in the France section, am looking for advice re, Germany(black forest) Switzerland as we ride through(,too expensive to stay there):eek:
Northern Italy and then Provence :blast I know we will find loads of great places by simply coming across them, but any great "must see " places on route would be a great help!:thumb Cheers guys

Black forest: whichever way you get to it, its great. The north/south crossings ( there are 3 key ones, B500 south of Baden Baden highly commended, but a tad busy in the summer too).
Stay/ picnic near lake Titisee (no joke) or Schlussee.

Cross Sswitzerland through the notional axis basel/zurich/bern and through Interlaken arrive vid Meiningen/ Furka pass into Andermatt region, imho yhe heartland of European biking in the summer.

Then off in diection st Moritz ( via Disentis) and into lake Como in Italy.

Leaving THIS friday Afternoon, Calais hack through France too Colmar area, Black Forest, Through Switz into Austria on Twisties no Motorway, Landeck, St Moritz, Livigno, Bormio, Stelvio, Bolzano, Over Dolimites, Grosenglockner area 2 days, Timmelsjoche, Imst, Lech Valley Austria, Switz, Titsee Black Forest, Colmar and back
Phew need new tyres already and that just going over it in my mind.:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1 Hotels all the way, about 35 euro PPPN with some have an evening meal in with price! :thumb2

Switzerland doesn't haave to be expensive to stay in, do a bit of research, its a shame to miss one of the most beautiful European countries (non EEC of course)

Very true too, that's why I'm going through it twice, staying in Black Forest befor and Austria after and the other way around on the way back.
Google B&B switzerland or camping Switzerland. Top tip dont do any enquiry from the search results site, try and get there personal email address from there linky, as nobody ever replies to an enquiry on any site that I visited in that part of the world, but the personal email route loads of replies straight away.

That's a fine trip! How long are you taking to do that?

If you're going by Eurotunnel and arrive early, I'll buy you a coffee in the passenger terminal building. :thumb2

Don't forget to use this formula every morning, otherwise you may die

*VO2max is calculated using the following formula

VO2max (ml/kg/min) = 132.853 – (0.0769 * weight) - (0.3877 * age) + (6.315 * gender) - (3.2649 * mile walk time) - (0.1565 * ending heart rate)

where:
Gender = 1 for male, 0 for female;
Weight = pounds;
1 mile walk time = minutes and fractions of minute (14:30 = 14.5 min).

and you will have a shit holiday :)

I did a similar route last year, day 1 i stopped at 2 wheels mooring in Dun Sur Meuse(SUPERB). Day 2 was camping on the lake side in Schluchsee which was also very good.It also allows you to ride the B500 as previously mentioned. Day 3 i headed into Switzerland and stayed in a hotel (As i pi**ed it down)
