I'd laid my 100GS since last year suspecting I'd got a big end knocking. First chance I'd had to investigate and it turned out to be the inlet valve had lost its clearance allowing the gases to blow back into the inlet. Set the clearance and away she goes - sweet as anything. Rode over to Matlock for breakfast this morning with a ride back through the lanes. Great stuff.

That's a pretty bike....not pretending to be anything other than what it is :thumb2

Should have dropped in for coffee/tea!

Have you thought about where the clearance has gone? Pocketed valve seats? Stretched valve stem? Bit worrying?

I'm not too concerned smug. I fitted moorespeed one piece valves when the engine was rebuilt. I'd actually been amazed that they'd never needed to be adjusted in four years of riding so glad that ones finally moved. I will keep an eye on it though. The last ride Id done was with a group of jap bikes and I'd thrashed the arse of the bike to stay with them. I suspect it's just the head gasket settling in.

I meant have a proper look by looking over your shoulder.

The inlets are 2mm larger with the moorespeed one piece valves.

I also have Moorespeed 2mm larger inlets on my extended mono - the engine keeps pulling hard deeper into the rev range than my terrain allows me to go

Sat Nav moment

Any excuse to get a photo posted. Took the Basic to the HISS in Aragon a couple of weeks ago. Starter motor stopped working on the Sunday. Tried BMW Spain on Monday first thing, no stock. Tried Piddys, stocked at BMW UK. Called Gary Burton who had 2 on the shelf. One was shipped to the campsite, literally the middle of nowhere, and was delivered Wednesday PM. Sorted. We left Aragon and headed to Sardinia SS125 highly recommended. We are currently in Napoli (ish) and have just ridden along the Amalfi Coast, 100k 4 hours, stunning.

How do you manage to keep the bike so clean riding on those roads?

Nice pics by the way :beerjug:
