I cannot find where my Outlook personal folders (pst) files are on my hard disk. I need to get them onto removable media asap as my laptop is about to go :boobies up!

I know they're there cos I've right clicked on personal folders in Outlook itself and I see:

C:\Documents and Settings\Simon\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

Folder size: 1,232,161 kb (I know need to throw stuff away)

However, visiting said location on hard drive - it's not there. I've done a search for "outlook" and all pst folders on the C drive. I've also ensured that hidden files are displayed from the control panel.

Panic is only one step away from the "flying laptop from an upstairs window" routine.

Any clues?

That location is hidden by default, you need to show hidden files before you can see it.

Or you can go to control panel, into 'mail' then 'data files' and you should have an option to 'browse location', that should open the folder you need.

Part Deux

Well, the relaxation didn't last long.....:augie

The Outlook address book (or contacts) isn't part of the pst file which has successfully been imported into Outlook on another PC.

Any idea where the Contacts data file sits so I can transfer it over too?

Cheers in advance....:beerjug:

Exporting contacts

You should be able to export data from MS Outlook into a brand new PST file which you can save anywhere you want.

Just look at the File --> Export menu option.

This also allows you to select what information you would like exported to the PST file (Contacts, Calendar, Mail folders, etc)
