Outside Temp Guage 1150 GSA ?

Ok chaps it sounds a bit soft but having just returned from 10 days touring the Pyrennes in November, I really missed not knowing what the ambient temperature was whilst riding .
In the mountains it would be a real safety bonus to know if it was freezing or not.

So can anyone recommend what temp guage and how to fit it on the 1150 for a nice installation.?

I've had a Wunderlich on my 1150s for years. They're inaccurate and high, there's no way it's 11 deg C now!

I use a Kisan ChargeGuard from www.kisantech,com.
Gives readings for Amps / Volts / outside Temp and ice alert.

Also has a light sensor to switch LED light on at night.

It's listed at around $140 dollars, it's a charge monitor as well as a temperature monitor. But that's a lot of money.

That is true luke but, what's the use of just a thermometer. Bought one of the small electric one's years ago but never used it.
Sometimes if you are adding accessories with limited space, it is good to have something with a dual purpose.

It is either,
Bloody freezin
Freezin,
Bloody cold,
Cold,
Wet,
Idyllic
Hot,
Bloody hot,
Boiling,
Bloody Hell.

In summer, it is the latter in the Middle East .

I've used the same one as Packer shows in post 3 for years - even have a new spare in garage just in case - there that cheap
I fit it onto top yoke blanking plug with Velcro & have s/s probe mounted on underside of beak at front so that it gets an air flow, no other wires as it runs on a battery which lasts for years. Recommended.

I've thought about temp gauges before and wondered about the positioning of a probe. I always thought that if you put the probe into the air flow you'd get the winchill temp not the ambient temp. Am I missing something?

Though if you're on a jet airliner it has a total air temp readout, but we're not likely to be going fast enough to have a need for one.

The type of thermometer that is supposed to be stuck on the inside an aquarium glass will be 100% waterproof and quite cheap

On the hex head GS it's under the beak on the LHS towards the back.
