Oval Karabiners - for tie downs and lashing - Anyone interested?

Last year I did a deal for fellow ukgsers on sets of 4, oval karabiners by faders, for those who wanted them for lashing down bikes on trailers etc.

If there is sufficient interest I will try and arrange another batch of oval karabiners, but this time from Petzl. Unfortunately prices have gone up from last year. So looking at £40 or so (but hopefully less) for a set of 4 Petzl Oval Screw gate karabiners rated to 24kN loading and inclusive of post within UK. The more people who are interested the greater the chance of I can reduce that price.

This has been prompted by two people asking sperately over the last couple of weeks. So if you are interested. Please post a reply here and let me know.

They will look almost identicle to the ones from faders last year;

Not really surprising when you can get 10mm Faders ones for 4.99 (+ P&P)....

Don't mean to undermine your offer, just pointing out why people may be reluctant to spend £40 rather than a little over half that...

It's probably not the size that matters AdamA, but the strength. IIRC when I bought mine, I was told they were strong enough to hold a small elephant, which should be ok for my 1150 GSA pride and joy.

Never said anything about size OR strength, but as it happens these are 25Kn rather than 24. HTH.

I don't normally post negative comments on these sort of things, but I have to agree with Adam on this one. I did think "how much?" when I saw the price of them which may explain the lack of takers for the offer.

I was trying not to be negative.
Think of it not as "your offer is shit rocks, have a word with yourself" but more of, "great idea rocks, but I think you need to try a different supplier..."

Adam, no problem at all.. it was those faders ones I was doing last time infact. But unfortunately faders have now ceased trading. Not had the full details on it, but basically they are no longer selling under that name any more, i think another company took them on, but the UK distributor stopped their lines.

And it is likley the stock you are seeing listed is probably dates from before then, hence the pre- Euro v Pound price rise price. The petzl ones I do now are a slightly higher load rating, but as you say its down to interest and what people can get.
Its tough, being a smaller independant and competing with the bigger companys, but I try my best where I can.
