advice sought on good places to go for good food; nice things to do...day and in the evening too.....all that stuff....

a ghost walk is being organised.....should be good

I took the family to see the Royal Yacht Brittania. TBH I wasn't convinced that it would be my cup of tea, but as it turned out all of us really enjoyed it.

How the other half live eh?

Amy -

For a ghost tour - I can recommend Adam Lyal's (deceased) Witchery Tours:

Witchery Tours.........

If there is a rainy, overcast day - visit the Scottish Mining Museum at Gorebridge - the bad weather helps your imagination as to what conditions were like.

Linky...............

Restaurants..............

I like "Ducks at La Marche Noir" Ducks............

"Stac Polly" Stac.........

"Haldanes" Haldanes

Have a good time :thumb2

The Gravediggers pub (now known as The Athletic Arms) used to be great years ago. Only a short walk from the city centre. Don't know what it's like these days tho :nenau

S & N bought it a few years ago, audited it and discovered that they bought in several gallons of sherry every month but didn't sell any over the bar :augie
I always wondered why their 80/ tasted soo good. :augie
Enjoy Enn burG Amy, its a fantastic city to visit. Open top bus tour would be a good way to get its flavour :thumb2

Great view of the old town from ...

... the restaurant of the Royal Scottish Museum in Chambers Street.

For lunch try the restaurant in the Gallery of Modern Art. Free parking also or if you're on foot, there's a free bus from the Art Gallery on the Mound (middle of Princes Street)

Pubs a plenty but I'd go for the Guildford behind the dreaded Burger King at the east end of Princes Street.

Or for a different experience, the "Canny Man's" in Morningside. (11, 16, 15 buses from Princes Street).

GC kens it well!

you could try

The Stand Comedy Club in York Place. Good entertainment every night of the week.

'nuther places for lunch or dinner (dining room is brilliant, and reasonably priced)

Cafe Royal.

Holyrood ..BRILL! had not done that before so learned alot; New Town....hmmmm.....some good shops but not used to the crowds anymore......felt abit like Oxford St at Christmas..! My mate and I had a ball! Thanks for all the ideas...will be back there for general shopping! Loved Grassmarket...can't wait for it to be finished as there were lots of road works for the trams. That'll be good when thats done!
