2008 GSA, 100,000 miles, just run in really.

Out for a run a couple of weeks ago and hit a BIG pothole, almost threw me off..... it was invisible as full of water on a very wet road, anyway.... that 'may' be a coincidence, but I think not.

Moments after the pothole, the yellow triangle and brake failure light comes on.

Resets with a cycling of the ignition.

It reappears randomly, not whilst braking, not obviously linked to vibration or poor road surface, just pops up after 10 miles or maybe 70 miles, completely random....

GS911 reports over voltage fault and I can clear it.

What would cause that to happen (The over voltage, not the pothole).

Everything else appears absolutely fine... runs and brakes perfectly, no other obvious electrical issues.

Anyone else encountered this one?

Roger...

I'm certain an over-voltage could occur if the battery was disconnected albeit momentarily. Could the impact/jolt of the pot-hole have caused this?

My thoughts are that you have a loose/bad connection to your battery. It may not be one on the battery itself but the other end ie earth to the frame, engine earth or a + positive lead between the battery, fuse/alternator etc.

It will be something very simple.

did u look at ABS faults? might have broke a sensor wire (rear usually)

on the motoscan app it doesn't have a whole bike scan u go in each module to look (never used a 911 gadgets so don't know)

A Friend of mine had a similar Issue when we were riding along some really wet n muddy backroads 2 years back.
He was on his R1200RT at the time.
In his case, the ABS Sensors had copped for a heavy dose of sh#te and cleaning them cured the Problem.
Didn't check for Error Codes tho.
My Versys 1000 used to present all kinds of weird Symptoms when the Sensors on it got filthy.
May be worth giving them a Clean Up??

over voltage ...regulator fault. check voltage whilst running with a meter.

The original post isn't very clear or informative (more detail about the pothole than the problem :D), but it maybe just overvoltage on the ABS module, which is entirely different to an alternator that's overcharging.

Can you enlighten me on the over voltage on the ABS module issue please?

Is this something that is rectifiable?

Roger.
