Mick, not a bad suggestion, and in fact, shortly after you get the email confirmation of this posting, I should have inserted said article!

Mick.

It's true..

you can get 60 mpg from a boxer, just don't ever take it over 50 mph! Mick's bike never exceeds this warp factor as the bike 'cannae take no more capn' and would probably fall apart if he tried!!!!!:D :D :D

Mick,

Thanks for the offer of the article. If you want to e-mail it to me at [email protected], it will be gratefully received.

I know of a few others who have gone the Sigma cycle computer route. But having found that my speedo was only 3 mph out at high speed (indicated 118mph, true 115mph) according to my Garmin Streetpilot III, I am more than happy to stick with what I have. I understand the Sigma has other functions as well as speed?

Regards,

Bob

My 1100 always does 50-60mpg and when we are out on a run, it's always the 1150's that are stopping for fuel. You can't get more power out of an engine without using more fuel. My bike is stock apart from my own exhaust, and I ride it like a wobbly old tosser, just ask all the even more wobbly tossers that can't keep up:D
And it doesn't matter how you dress it up, Mwb adventure panniers are total crap, no sorry, totally over priced glued together crap:tosser
That's only my opinion though:D

I do ride rather sedately, compared to what I read in this forum.

However I've found that the most economical speed for the 1100GS which is a compromise between outright speed and outright economy, is about 110 Km/h or something like 68 Mph.

At those speeds one also has a chance to evaluate the scenery, after all isn't that one of the reasons for travelling. If I want real speed then I could travel around a race track, that however, is rather boring in comparison.

Also, if one is able to maintain that as an average, then in todays traffic saturated world, you are a better man than I am Gunga Din.

Mick.

Mike, I've been trying for ages to average over 50mph for the life of a tyre. I always set the trip meter on the gps when I put a new tyre on, to see how long they last, and to average 50 all the time the bikes running is really going some I can tell you
