Has anybody who used this outfit?

I have ordered stuff online from Touratech.ie but it has never arrived.

I have e mailed them several times but no reply.

I have called several of times but no answer.

Luckily I haven't been charged for the item.

Are they still in business?

How long since you placed the order? I imagine the order is actually generated at the German distribution centre, and the goods are shipped from there either to you directly, or to Overlanders who ship it on to you?

Were all your items showing as "in stock" when you placed the order? Bear in mind "in stock" may mean in stock in the German distro centre?

Have you received an email confirming your order was placed? If not, maybe there was an issue at the time of ordering, and it wasn't actually placed?

Have you tried the mobile phone numbers as well as the land lines? Have they a facebook page where you could ask for a call-back?

All obvious, but worth asking. Hope the outcome is good - I have them on my radar for purchases in the future. :thumb

Derek is in South Africa on a trip. I am sure some one else is around the store as he posted on FB recently that they had hired a new staff member.

They are in Gorey, hop down to see them next Saturday?

Got hold of them via a mobile number.

They are looking into it but said some parts are on back order since February.

Not their fault but communication is not their strong point.

Communication is definitely not their strong point but they are a sound bunch of genuine lads/bikers who will not see you wrong and I have always found them to be more than fair with pricing.

As younger says they've not quite grasped the concept of "follow up" with customer service. They are a very honest group of guys but spread too thin on the ground. Has op called them ? Derek announced on Facebook last week the appointment of a female adventure rider to look after the shop etc.

Have found that if you follow up with them on a reasonably regular basis, things happen eventually. Communication is NOT their strong point, but they come through within a very appropriate time in the end.

I think they're a bunch of jackasses. I ordered something from them earlier this year. It showed as "In Stock" when I ordered. When it hadn't arrived after a week, I phoned to find out where it was. The lad that answered the phone sounded about 15 and told me "The lads are having their lunch. They'll ring you back in 20 minutes". They didn't. I phoned another three times that day. Each time I was told that "the lads" were too busy to look up my order - in other words my business isn't important to them. The third time, I told him to cancel my order. I got a phone call five minutes later from a manager to explain why my order was late, that it was on the way from Germany and that I'd have it in a few days. It's amazing how quickly "the lads" could call me back after I cancelled the order. I told him I wasn't interested and that I wanted my order cancelled.

I ordered the item from http://www.adventurebikeshop.co.uk/ and received it three or four days later.

I don't care if the lads in Overlanders/Touratech.ie are sound. There are plenty of sound people running businesses that are far more professional than them. I can't stand messers and I don't believe in giving my business to a bunch of messers when there are good businesses out there that are hungry for business.

EDIT: Also "In Stock" should mean that it's IN STOCK, not that it exists somewhere in the world and will some day make its way to their premises.

Hi All,

David here from Overlanders/AMI/Touratech.ie. A newbie on UKGSER - something we haven't had time to partake in before.

Hands up we have had some communication issues in the past. There are no excuses and we fully understand it is a vital part of the service we provide.

Just a bit of background info FYI. We are a relatively small family run business and to date we have been a little thin on the ground hence the delay/lack of communication. We have also had some supply issues in 2016 and our suppliers are currently undergoing a full re-structure including expanded manufacturing facilities and distribution centre to include forecasting ETA of parts currently on backorder. All due to be resolved in the near future. We ourselves are also restructuring and have taken on new employees specifically responsible for certain aspects. We understand and apologize the frustration that has been caused and needless to say are dealing with the similar frustration ourselves.

Again there are no excuses and we will endeavor to provide a better service/communication going forward. We very much value customer satisfaction/feedback and firmly believe it is top priority. As I said before we do not spend much time on UKGSER/forums so it would be better to contact us directly with any queries.

Regards,
David & Team

Well done David. Your company is a welcome shot in arm for Irish motorcycling.

Well done David. The bike transport side is a credit to your family. Now if you get an ecommerce person to manage the "online" shop you will be sorted.

[Firstly, I do sympathise with the people who genuinely felt let down, I know the feeling from dealings with other suppliers and agree that good communication is vital.

I really admire Overlanders not just for the business they have launched but also now for coming out and responding honestly and speedily to explain the situation.

I think most people who have been involved in an early stage business have experienced some of the issues and grief mentioned with delays from suppliers etc while you build relationships.

My own experience with them has fortunately been very satisfactory both on overseas trips and visits to the shop but as with any business you have to be on your toes all the time......thank God I'm now retired !

Fair enough David, the fact that you can recognize the problem and look forward to fix it says a lot already.

I've had some communications issues before as well, I'll give it another shot in the future based on the above.

Cheers,
Rami

My experience with Overlanders, while limited to requesting a Touratech catalog, was very positive - prompt response to email, catalog arrived in a couple of days (along with a TT magazine + DVD).

The guys seem well-respected on the Irish forums. Best of luck to them. :thumb

David from Overlanders sorted everything out in a very professional manner, I am very pleased how things were handled once they were aware of the problem.

Very easy to deal with, I will definitely use them again and hope their business does well in the future.

(As the hanger on), fine spot. Plenty of bikes to look at, great range, lots of kit and kettle was on. Hope they do well. :thumb2

The TT catalog lists Overlanders (as AMI, AFAIU) as an off-road riding training place - any Paddies able to confirm, and maybe have experience?
