I recently posted details about the story of my front discs clicking. I am very pleased to say this was cured for 20 quid by replacing all the wave washers and cleaning up the bobbins. Instant improvement! I also fitted the shims on the mating face of the disc and hub (just seemed cheap and sensible).

Very soon after i got this 'warped disc' feeling again . So of course i was thinking NOW what the feck is going on??? Well, when you see the pictures below, all will be clear. It turned out the pad retaining pins were sufficiently shagged to prevent the pads sitting true, especially since i had shifted the discs by approx. 1mm. I was surprised how much of an effect these worn pins had. Maybe worth bearing in mind if your discs are 'warped'!

Again, the fix for this has thankfully proved to be less than 20 quid from MWs. I also decided to splash out and get some stainless pins (Shaw Engineering items, very nice items).

So, i can confirm that my brakes have now been behaving impeccably for a few weeks but i have a small problem that maybe someone has an answer for.

How can i remove the sprung dowel off the new pins and re-fit them to my new posh stainless pins?

Grateful for suggestions!
