Hi all, just wondering if anyone is interested in coming along to this event. It's more a bit of craic than competitive and should be good fun.

Full details are on this thread if you're interested in following how it's developed and keeping up to date with progress http://www.xrvireland.org/the-paddy-dakar-t488.html

The latest news is that Andrew Reeves will ride a showroom BMW in the event and write up the day for Bikebuyersguide.

Honda Ireland, KTM Ireland, BMW Ireland are going to help with pushing the event.

Philip Noone <!-- m -->http://www.teamdakarireland.com/the-team<!-- m --> finished this years Dakar and will be going back at it again for the 2010/11 edition . Philip's going to come to our event and bring his bike and has also suggested that he might ask the only other Irish riders (3) to ever complete and finish the Dakar to come as well and bring their mounts .

Event sounds interesting... Definitely try yo make this...

But.. That flyer they've made up for the event is outstanding :thumb2

Me and a friend at work did up the flyer for the event. They're also gonna have T-Shirts (embroidered I think) done up on the day, as well as stickers. Unfortunately I don't know if I'll be making it to the event as I think I'm a bit of a green horn on my Dakar (2 months riding and counting). But I think it'll be a great event, and for a good cause.

Spread the word guys

I'd love to get to this, so work depending I'll be there. Would you do this on a GS or would you need something lighter.

**** it Gracious you'll be grand. I took the GS off road for the first time a few weeks ago and it was brilliant. It's about twice the weight of your Dakar...... The Paddy Dakar is billed for big adventure bikes with road tyres.

Checking the dates there yesterday with herself and she informed me I agreed to go to Micheal Buble that day. So I'm not going to be able to make it. Raging. :(

I did my first bit of off roading with essjay not too long ago on my GSA.. loved it...

nothing too advanced.. few dirt tracks and forest, so this sounds class...

:beerjug:

Fingers crossed I'll be going, not on the GS though. I'm lucky enough to have held on to me first bike (a little rice burning trailie) under the pretence that she can use it to get her licence and I'll be bringing that. Pass already signed by the kitchen commander, so unless something goes drastically wrong I'll see some of ye in Doon! :thumb2

The Paddy Dakar

Guys Hi.

Jonny here from Ireland and behind the whole Paddy Dakar thing.
Simply - The 1st Edition of the Paddy Dakar happens on the 24th 25th 26th of Sept 2010, in Doon Village ,Co Limerick Ireland.

So whats the deal? Ride a 120km raid on your bike as it stands ,don't buy off road tyres , get you head around map reading and navigation . Work as a team of two, across a physically demanding course . We have ridden this course twice (GS 1200 , Honda Africa Twin 750 and a Yamaha Ténéré) in terrible conditions and fair conditions on road rubber and not dropped a bike , its not a timed event its a nav run and skill ride.

You'll be up in the pegs within the first 15mins and up there for 7 hours more.

The whole idea is to get you and your bike working the way they were designed to run . Phil Noone and Gary Ennis http://www.teamdakarireland.com/ ,Phil Gunn of Red Bull SteepleX and http://www.discoveryrally.com/Rally_of_Discovery/Rally_of_Discovery_Home.html and Andy Reeves http://www.ktm.com/Detail.102379.0.html?&nodeID=109466&cHash=f844a18835

are going to attend with Dakar Bikes , and Andy Reeves will run a show room GS on the day so you get a chance to run against this Enduro legend one of only 16 to finish the Erzberg Rodeo this year.

Charging €15 entry fee and €15 administration to cover materials ,what ever's left over goes back to the riders or to Down syndrome Ireland. Free camping (Behind a Pub of all places!)

Joining instructions here https://docs.google.com/fileview?id...mQtMTE4Yy00OGM3LWJiMmYtYmE0N2M5MDc3MTZi&hl=en

I appreciate your support and look forward to meeting ye .
