Im getting a 1934 red panther back on the road. The petrol tank needs painting. I am a tight sod and would like to simply spray the tank with a rattle can (as from Halfords). As the stuff you buy now is acrylic based, is it OK with petrol.

Painting fuel tank

The paint from Halfords will probably be cellulose, which will require protecting wiith a 2k [two pack] clear coat [lacquer] to prevent damage from petrol spills.
